My Approach

I’m always outcome-focused with an emphasis on getting things done efficiently, on time and within budget, but never at the expense of detail or the delivery of the highest quality work.

I enjoy the process of getting to know my client’s business, their ethos, expectations and requirements. It’s endlessly fascinating to me to work in new environments and in new business sectors (although the last 30 years has seen me work in most…)

Listening to my clients is the key to delivering what is required. I’m entirely collaborative in approach and understand that what’s right for one client may not be for another. Let’s work together – I promise it will be much more productive for everyone, and the results will speak far louder.

A bit of biography…

About Me

Long ago, in a distant land (mid-90s, Islington), I scored my first ‘proper’ job at a creative digital agency – I’d already spent a couple of post-degree years freelancing graphics and animation gigs for the BBC and C4, but this… this felt serious.

But ‘serious’ perhaps isn’t quite right. Trial by fire, yes, damn hard work, absolutely, nose to the grindstone (or is it shoulder? or wheel? I’ll check before I publish this.) But fun! Serious fun. It was ‘Cool Britannia’, Trainspotting, New Labour…

I wore every creative hat imaginable there. I project managed clients large and small, produced graphics and display visuals, wrote ad copy and feature articles. It was the very best of training grounds.

We worked with the music industry, governmental departments, US publishers, magazines, furniture designers, museums and galleries; travelling between the UK, USA and continental Europe.

By 2017 I was working with University College, Oxford (founded in 1249, which is quite a long time ago.) I project managed the design and rebuild of the College’s website – almost tripling the user numbers in the process – launched their IG account and oversaw the strategy and publication of 3k+ social posts a year.

When I’m not working with my fabulous JayBee Media clients, I’m an avid watcher of films, a musical theatre goer, reader (mostly biographies), slow learner of Spanish, cook, and world whisk(e)y collector.

Yet the outdoors is my natural habitat. I’m really passionate about travelling, running, scuba diving, swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking and cooking alfresco (campervan simplicity, please.) But, in the words of David Bowie, “I know when to stay in, get things done…”

Any questions? Please get in touch and we can talk more.

PS: My dog is called Daisy. She does not know she is a dog.

I moved to work as Group Head of Video for an American digital juggernaut, then as Creative Director for another British company where we developed and launched the UK’s first online film magazine. Spinning that out to its own business, I managed a team of 5 and a group of 100+ freelancers to work with every major (and most of the minor) film distributors.

Let’s skip ahead – through the bit where I had a couple of books published, wrote for a slew of magazines and worked with publishers from Archant and Hearst to Bauer Media.

I then worked with Cyclo Publishing for the best part of five years, launching a range of successful online sports titles and projects. It was another multi-hat experience; managing text and visual content across the brands, running multiple social channels, project managing freelance contributors and generally making everything look shiny and fabulous.
